Mr DeBono kindly agreed to answer some commonly asked questions about trying to conceive and going through fertility treatment.
He talks through how couples can increase their chances of success, how BMI affects fertility, the age limits on IVF and his views on add on treatments.
Mr Debono was my consultant when going through treatment, so I have special ties to the clinic he runs (Yorkshire Fertility) and it was great to get his opinion and advice. I run a support group for patients with Yorkshire Fertility, which you can find out more about on the 'Support group' page of this site.
Martin Debono qualified as a doctor from Leeds University in 1984 and entered the specialty of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 1985. He has worked and researched in the field of infertility for over 20 years in Leeds, Sheffield and Halifax. In 1995 he was appointed as a Consultant Gynaecologist at Calderdale Royal Hospital and established the Calderdale Assisted Conception Unit by the following year in 1996.
The unit has grown significantly since then as a result of its thriving clinical success and the emphasis it places on customer care. Within five years the unit became the largest satellite IVF unit in the country and still is to this day.
